Pioneer BDP-LX70

See and hear as the film-maker’s intended

The BDP-LX70 gets the best out of high definition media. It delivers ‘master quality’; audio and video exactly as the film-makers intended, perfectly played back at 1080p and 24Hz.

That is, at exactly the same speed and using the same 24 frames per second as the film was shot, stored, mastered and screened at the cinema.

The player supports Dolby TrueHD. This means that not only are you guaranteed full high definition video quality, but “lossless” audio: sound without any distortion, interference or noise.

Audio exactly as the film sound engineers intended.

Build a true HD home network solution
As the traditional walls between the living room and the study begin to fall, it is essential that you can enjoy entertainment content from your home PC on your home cinema system, too.

The BDP-LX70 can therefore receive compressed audio, movie and image files across your home IP network.

The player is DLNA™ compatible (by Ethernet), which means that content such as MPEG2, WMV9, WMA9 Pro, MP3 and JPEG files (for example) can be streamed from a home computer or server to the player.

Few manufacturers have been able to provide a direct, uncompromised link between an HD source, player and flat screen.

Our design philosophy is to ensure straight-through connectivity where there is absolutely no loss of high definition quality, from start to finish, from the source to the screen.

When combined with our LX series amplifier and plasma screen, the BDP-LX70 ensures exactly that. It’s part of a true HD home network solution.

High quality design and build
The BDP-LX70 has our now-trademark piano black glossy finish, and is constructed to perform at the high-end of the AV spectrum.

It has an efficient, double-layered chassis, which delivers incredible mechanical stability; important in ensuring interference-free playback of media.

Each component within the player is designed for high-performance, with the main circuit, power supply, Blu-ray drive and audio circuits sealed for mechanical strength.

Gold-plated terminals further enhance the BDP-LX70 promise of high quality, high definition output.

Multiple formats, multiple media
The BDP-LX70 is not only a Blu-ray disc player, but can also play your entire DVD collection, supporting both PAL and NTSC playback. And of course, it can play audio CDs, too.

In addition to DLNA CERTIFIED™ sources, the player also complies with Windows Media™ Player 11, offering a host of options for playback of multi-media files directly from a home PC.

Straightforward, simple operation
Finally, the player operation is intuitive. GUI languages include English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian.

The BDP-LX70 uses HDMI control (HDMI-CEC = Consumer Electronics Control), which means that, once it is connected to a Pioneer flat screen TV, for example, a single remote control can be used to control both systems.

Availability
The BDP-LX70 will be commercially available in June. In the near future, Pioneer is planning to introduce a HD Audio Bitstream output player to replace this model.

There are no jagged edges with the per-pixel motion adaptive algorithm and a sophisitcated multi-directional diagonal filter. It doesn't get any better than this for viewing enjoyment. HQV’s true 1080p HD deinterlacing delivers the sharpest, most detailed HD images possible by employing per-pixel motion adaptive algorithms and a sophisticated multi-directional diagonal filter that ensures video without jagged edges. Setting the Movie Frame (24Fs) feature to ON allows you to adjust the Blu-ray player's HDMI output to 24 frames per second for improved picture quality. The powerful HQV processing engine also provides per-pixel motion adaptive noise-reduction, detail enhancement and advanced scaling delivering premium quality upconverted SD material.

HQV maximizes resolution and detail

For high definition material and allows standard definition to approach High definition. Maximizing Resolution: Converting standard-definition to high definition requires resizing/scaling the image up to 6 times. Converting 1080i interlaced to progressive: 480i/1080i video is broadcast as interlaced where each image contains half of the total picture information. The reconstruction of these half frames is called de-interlacing.

More capacity, more versatility!

Current dual layer Blu-ray discs can hold up to 50GB. That’s over 4 hours of HDTV programs, or up to 26 hours of standard definition TV. And thanks to the structure of Blu-ray discs, capacity is likely to increase two-fold in the future.

Complete Backwards Playback compatibility

In addition to playing high-definition BD discs, Samsung Blu-ray technology offers complete backward compatibility. You can still enjoy your current favorite CDs and DVDs, no matter the format. In fact, they look and sound better than ever before, because the BD-P1200 can take your current DVD library and upconvert it to a near high-definition experience via 720p/1080i and 1080p.

User-Friendly Graphic Interface

Samsung’s BD-P1200 BD Player includes various user interface menus & subtitle functions to allow consumers to easily discover and search for detailed content regarding the video. The full-color, high-definition animated menu and subtitle effects allow you to incorporate your own personal creative touch.

Easy Top Menu

With the easy top menu, you change the font & color of subtitles and menu titles as well as the background color and menu graphic-all to fit your individual style.

Samsung BD-P1000

Samsung BD-P1000
Product Description

The Samsung BD-P1000 BD player is the first model from Samsung that plays high-definition Blu-ray Discs, which takes advantage of today's flat-screen HDTVs by playing content at native 720p or 1080i video resolutions. You'll marvel at the clarity and full-color spectrum of the vibrant video produced from Blu-ray movie discs, which provide five times the resolution of standard DVD movie discs. The BD-P1000 also offers backward compatibility for DVD movie and CD audio discs, and an upconverting function that brings your favorite DVDs to near HD quality. It includes one high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) output, which provides uncompressed, all-digital video and multi-channel audio delivered via a single cable (720p/1080p). High-definition signals up to 1080i are also available through the component video output. Note that viewing high-definition Blu-ray Disc content requires an HDTV or HD-ready TV.

The user-friendly graphic interface includes a full-color, hi-def animated menu, with features such as advanced subtitle functions, video scene search and pop-ups--which provide informative tidbits and are embedded in Blu-ray Disc contents. And the unique 11-in-2 multi-format memory card slot displays 3-megapixel and larger images in full hi-def resolution. It's compatible with Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), CompactFlash, MicroDrive, XD Picture Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Duo Pro, Memory Stick Pro, RS MMC, and Mini SD. Other technical features include

  • Up to 1080p (1920 x 1080p) output through HDMI digital output
  • Selectable 1080p/1080i/720p video upconversion of DVDÕs through HDMI
  • BD-RE, BD-ROM, DVD ROM, DVD RAM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-ROM, CD-R/RW playback compatible
  • MPEG2, VC-1, H.264, HD JPEG decoding
  • 12-bit/192MhZ video D/A converter; 24-bit/192KHz audio D/A converter

The BD-P1000 provides a full range of audio decoding, including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby DTS, and MP3. It has stereo outputs as well as coaxial and optical digital audio outputs for 5.1-channel home theater surround sound. It offers the following video output connection options:

  • Composite AV (RCA): 1
  • S-Video: 1
  • Component Video: 1
  • HDMI: 1

Blu-ray Disc Format
The next-generation Blu-ray optical disc format was created by a group of the world's top consumer electronics companies, including Samsung and Sony. This format was intended to meet the demand for playing and recording high-definition content, which far surpasses the video quality DVD can handle. With remarkable high quality video and crisp audio clarity, Blu-ray also offers increased storage capacity--up to 25 GB of content on a single-sided disc and enough space for two hours of high-definition movies or recorded content. (This is over five times the 4.7 GB of data a standard single-sided DVD disc can store.) The name Blu-ray is derived from the blue-violet laser the player uses to read and write to the disc.

Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

  • High Definition Formats: The most common high-def (HD) video format is 720p, which displays video at 720 vertical by 1280 horizontal pixels. The "p" denotes that it is progressive scan, meaning that all video lines are filled at the same time. The 1080i format displays video at 1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixels, and the "i" means that it is interlaced (the old-school way of presenting video where the screen scans the odd-numbered video lines first, then the even-numbered lines). The 1080p format has the same pixel resolution as 1080i, but it is a progressive scan format and thus has a constant vertical resolution of 720 lines.
